Don’t let SID get you!
Have you seen SID?
SID has powers, but is not too powerful. SID’s powers are stigma, ignorance and discrimination.
SID tricks people into thinking they will never get HIV. SID also likes it when people do not think about how others may feel when they are treated poorly – just because they have an illness.
We can beat SID though. How? By becoming “SID” aware. Gets the facts! Understand what risks there are. Speak to others, even one on one or do school projects about HIV and AIDS.
If we all speak up and get SID aware, then SID cannot hide and trick people into thinking it is ok to discriminate against Aboriginal people living with HIV/AIDS.
SID also will not be able to keep people in the dark, and when we all stand up and speak up, then any of our friends, family or community members who might have taken risks may step forward to get tested for HIV, and if they find out they are HIV-positive, then we all can offer our support.
When we are strong with the real facts, then SID won’t get you.
